London at Night; Sketches by Frederick Carter, 1914:
I know these pictures are over a decade out of my Victorian jurisdiction, but anything that showcases London’s past in a delightful way catches my eye. I came across this book in a charity shop and had no hesitation in picking it up.
There are more sketches in it than this, but these are my favourites. In 1914 the country still had a distinctly late-Victorian ‘look’ to it, but with many signs of modernization, such as motor-cars.
